The Book of Revelation was written for seven churches in Asia Minor. It had a contemporary message for those churches who were being relentlessly persecuted.

The basic message was, that if those early churches and their faithful followers could remain faithful and endure these great trails and tribulations then they would be victorious eventually on the Day of Resurrection.

Now of course this Day of Resurrection has a completely different meaning to the one that Christianity has attached itself to, but that's another story.

The point is that you don't get to own the symbolic, metaphoric, allegoric events of Revelations 2000 years later when it was all written for somebody else. 2000 years later people are still reading a Bronze Age book and imagining themselves as the heroes of this great Revelation. It's over. It's all done and dusted. You're reading about historic events, not things that are yet to happen.

There is a staggering hubris in Christian belief that thinks that the Bible is always about to have a fulfilment of prophecy any moment, generation after generation. Your mob have been banging on for nearly 150 years about the imminent fulfilment of Revelation. The worlds about to end. Jesus is nearly ready to do something. God is stirring.

It's all utter nonsense. It's all over. The Book of Revelation has all come to pass. It lives now only in the imagination of gullible, susceptible people.

The world didn't end on all those dates Jehovah Witness guessed. Invisible Jesus did not do anything in 1914, or any of those other dates your mob have fiddled with. Moses, David, Abraham and others did not come and live in Beth Sarim. Those alive in 1914 did in fact all pass away, they are all dead and saw nothing of the Jehovah Witness claims.

When do you think reality might trump imagination and wishful thinking?
