Wotsup, it is quite evident that at times the Scriptures speak of ''The Word of God'' as a person. And how many times will you find that, Mr G?
Amazingly, you accept that the word can refer to a person or being, yet you refuse to keep that thinking up, flow, with the Holy Spirit = same thing.
Here is what I do not get and it is not just you, I gave you some very valid points and questions and as people do most times, they never answer them?
Myself,.... to do that would not be possible, even if it took me a month to get back to them?
If I don't know, I would simply tell them so.
That verse Rev 19:13, does NOT say that Jesus is the word of God, it clearly states that His NAME is the word of God, representing his role and what he did.
You miss a Vital part of this passage 19:12, no one knows this name and I would suggest it is because they don't know what it's really saying, what it represent, means.
Some think it's saying his is the Almighty God and Father and others like yourself, think it's saying he is the Word.
So lets LOOK at other examples of names and what they are actually telling us, for the True context.
Christ = anointed - Luke 4:18 - The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the good news (the Word) to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,Jesus = God is salvation or God saves.
Immanual = God with us (when the future one was to come) - John 14:10 - Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me?the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.Abraham = Father of many and his name was changed to Abraham.
Name -> The Word of God --> Deu 18:18 - I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.
John 12:49 - For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
Now to get this Word in Jesus, God led and raised Jesus for 20 plus years.
And by Baptism timing, Jesus had the Spirit/Word without measure (don't loose sight of the fact, God's word is also Spirit).
Prior, there is NO way Jesus had this word, the Word in him at anytime and NO, he did not empty this out prior to coming.
Heb 1:1-2 - God has ONLY spoken IN and through the Son in these LAST days = After His Baptism, which is WHEN he was sent into the world and an example of that is CLEARLY shown via Jesus in John 17:18.
So Jesus now exalted and via inheritance has the name -> the Word of God, which simply represents the role he did and what he represents, the word = the plan of salvation, always centered around this future one to be.
Hence in that context, the first of God's plans, the Jesus to be, was the beginning of the creation of God and in the same context, the firstborn of creation, in the mind and plans of God..
Jesus is part of the word of God, the plan, the results, part of the word of God, a big part.
Jesus was the carrier of the Word = the word of God and he in no uncertain terms, tells us this at least 4 times, just in John.
Jesus also refers to this (the word) as Glory, which God gave him, to which Jesus gave to others so that they could become one as they are one.
And your trying to suggest to me, John's opener wouldn't open up this way with the most important part, plan etc, of God before the world existed?
I would suggest you grasp Mal 3:1 as to who the way was to be clear for first, Before the sudden appearance of Jesus, which only shows up at 1:14, hidden mystery revealed.
1:14 The Word, plan --> Flesh became...............
The word is light, hence by Jesus getting the word, he became A light into the world.
It, the Word, also gave him life within himself as God has in John 1:4, which Jesus also refers to as water.
Now then, if your given the word, the word of God, you do NOT became that.
To suggest he did, is like saying, if I gave you and apple, you are now claiming to be that apple.
------------------
Putting aside as to who it is addressing in John 1:4 In Him life was --> WHAT do you think this means, what exactly do you think brings, or gives this life here?
The life is, The word of God, words of eternal life, word of life, which comes form God the Father and is the light to all, even to those before Jesus came, accept and abide in it, brings life.
God's word is Spirit, hence being born again via God's word is to be born again via the Spirit, which is NOT Jesus.
(1 Peter 1:23 & John 3:5 and the water referred to in 3:5 is the word of God).
