Has anyone else noticed that SBN tends to make any announcements aftermarket?

It's not only after market, but late after market (usually 5-6+ PM).

Doing it regularly at the same time late allows people to comfortably intraday trade without trading halts or news coming through. As the company management is in the US, it is not as likely that news would need to be released immediately - hence less likelyhood of intraday announcements.

Releasing late however has the following disadvantages:

1. News may be missed by the market, as many will not scan incoming announcements that late in the day, so some new trader money may not enter on the back of an announcement.

2. If anything positive is announced, from a charting perspective we are likely to see a gap up on the inter day charting - which can lead to some seeing the gap "needing to be filled" - ie. a retracement - later. Announcing in the day would lead to just a large bullish candlestick on positive news (better technically).

3. Predictability.
