Carpenter just lost my vote through this calculated and in the end ineffective (because it will never make it through the Council [Upper House]) stunt. He has realised there is a leaning towards the Greens here in the West, and he is securing their vote.

It will also absolve him for providing more infrastructure for our mines and their workers. The areas where mining takes place are overcrowded with no accommodation, or none at reasonable prices, and a general lack of infrastructure. Uranium mining would add to that congestion.
