Roy, if gold went up to that extent Doc would be screaming a short term buy.
Doc has been long gold trade more often than short gold trade the past couple of years - though that is closing due to having a short trade now for over 8 weeks and previously no trade for a month or two.
Doc likes gold for trading purposes. Doc Just doesn't see it as a long term hold, the returns are poor and it is subject to long periods in the doldrums.
Prepared to change at any time. A keen observer of behaviour and how it relates to market conditions is what drives Doc's decision making. If the conditions notably change, informed by researched criteria, then Doc will be long gold in a flash.
