Costs to build remain unclear and you would imagine there are many efficiencies to be gained over time. The biggest hurdle that we in Australia will face will be the negativity to N power. If you speak to any young people (25 and under) they are on the whole extremely negative.
Looking at costs for these mini N reactors in the range of 50-2o0mw puts them in direct opposition to Solar/battery farms and from what I can see they are more expensive.
To use the ideas of Elon Musk, they will have to build the Mini reactors so that they are far superior in terms of energy delivery and at a price point that is also superior to the alternatives.
From my limited research the mini reactors are just getting off the ground in the US so I cant see us going down this path within a five year window at best. I don't see how TLS could benefit from taking on this fight in Australia at present.
