Speaking of Melbourne churches - Popped in for a looksie at St Patricks one weekday when I was visiting the cold City - just happened to be a mass underway with people from all walks all chanting away doing their mass thing... homeless hobos to wealthy businessmen/women. Quite inspiring but not enough to convert me... although I do admit to feeling an inner peace while there and was happy to hang around for an hour and a half after mass had finished .... maybe just a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle outside or who knows...
That aside the architecture of the place is just incredible. They don't buildem like that anymore.
