Not sure how addressing the question has anything to do with being a holder or not, or whether the position status on hotcopper has been selected as holding or not. FYI - I think I remember them saying there were around 500 steps. Regardless, what you stated makes sense, i.e. it's not hard to arrive at a large number of variants given the complexity.
