RG - Totally hear ya. Ideally me and my partner would like to live around the Chadstone area which is about 14km out from the CBD and we love that area. It's gone down $100k this year and we're keeping a close eye on it although with everything that is going on, I don't think it's a good idea to get too highly geared so we're also thinking about buying in St Albans which is I think about 24km's (30-40min) from the CBD and we could can get a decent house on large allotmant that can be sub-divided at a later stage for $300k.
Stevo - Yes you are right, but that's why we're saving really hard now as Cash is King I believe! Me and my partner are both White collar workers so I'm thinking the industry we work in should be fine, but I agree you never know.
