    The suggestion of an increase in GST sets a precedent for future governments to raise it to 17.5% like the UK in the future when they want to buy the next election. The current 10% GST already makes us uncompetitive with our Asian neighbours. Any more will be a disaster. Governments need to live within their means - just like you and me.
