It's always very difficult to make assumptions when we don't have all the facts. Hell, we can't even be sure what, if any, allegiance THX directors have with UMC. Indeed, I would expect to see a shifting of UMC allegiance from THX to the future substantial shareholder(s).
Don't kid yourself, in the corporate world it is very much a dog eat dog situation. THX directors will do its best to look after themselves and their shareholder interests and UMC directors will do likewise.
I have no doubt that THX has set an exit strategy and surely there are some big boys out there who would like to buy a nice slab, but at the right price.
Flick the coin:
Heads - THX has set an exit price?
Tails - THX has set an exit date?
If I was operating a hedge fund and decided to buy a substantial parcel (5%) in UMC, what is the most likely option:
A) Placement? B) Buy at market? C) Buy THX holdings?
Mr Tonedeaf - I agree with the overhang theory!!!
REMEMBER - WE WILL ALWAYS ONLY GET 1/2 THE STORY!
