I think every body can play with numbers.

The West Connex is costly at least 45 billion if you look it up on google.

That makes a fast train line between Melbourne and Sydney a lot more effective.

No-one uses it because the states are not focused on in.

NSW means central and North coast because thats where their mates and them holiday, Victoria means Melbourne and Geelong along the coast because thats where they holiday so nothing gets done because its all city centric. They do not want things to get done due to vested interests. Its like Madrid v Barcelona

In theory the XPT for years could do 200 km an hour but hasn't because of the tracks and lack of care. Despite the fare increases because the service has not improved because its only five carriages still regularly high numbers even though its over priced!!! Systematically its been neglected because the cities prefer planes out of self interest rather than the state and national benefit

There has been overseas interests coming over to project simple upgrades on existing tracks to jump up the the speed of existing infrastructure but clearly the will is not there.

If you spend 45 billion on West Connex that does little long term apart from shifting deck chairs, it makes sense. Everyone in the cities just want a free lunch and like the bushfires the regions get ignored!!!

Australia has never tried to be best in the world at anything!! NBN was not best in the world!! Its best in the world at geographic inequality!!
