Just on the recovery at Hog Ranch, I'm not sure what you are saying is totally correct
It seems that once WMC started crushing the ore and running the mine as a Heap Leach and not a Dump Leach the five year average recovery jumped to over 83% which I understand is quite high for a heap leach. It seems the recovery problems were a legacy of the previous owners and their practices which were quickly rectified by WMC. See page 55 of maiden resource announcement released 2/9/19. relevant excerpt attached.
I guess we have to factor in that gold was around $300/oz back then, which i suspect was the main reason why WMC ended up losing money on this project. (recall a lot of projects when broke at those gold prices)
The leverage here is how much money can a project like this make as a Heal Leach with gold north of $1500/oz
