RIO or BHP have no deal with UMC to transport ore.
Rail spur is one option of the transport, some posters on here have estimated this could cost around 500-600M.
Guess we will know if this option is feasible when company announces which direction they will take with railway.
Also probably will depend if RIO or BHP will have to let third party rail access.
I saw an article in the Austalian that if the LIB's get up in WA they are going to make sure they will.
Guess we will know by tommorrow who wins.
From queensland, so dont follow wa politics.
Can only see BHP or RIO doing a deal if forced to do third party. And only minimal at that. Belive we could achive bigger tonnages with FMG
My view would be to do a deal for large operation say 15-20MTPA with fmg - get the stuff out of the ground in around 5 years.
Cheers
