You're the one that bangs on about comparing apples with apples. So clearly , you must have the hard data to support that claim.

So, here's a few questions for you.

What percentage of total electricity generation in Australia is represented by renewables ? What is the point of your argument seeing as renewables represent a small intermittent part of the grid in 2020 ?

How long did it take to build the fossil grid and the fossil assets we have today ?Fossil has about 100 years headstart on renewables. You are trying to compare an immature small amount of renewables without storage to a grid that has been established for decades.

What is the point of that argument ?

To do a true comparison, one would need a completely renewable plus storage grid to compare to a completely fossil powered grid.

You don't have that so your claim of apples to apples is not valid.

As to this classic piece of shockjock rubbish.

" You and your ilk will take Australia to a place where we don't have the capacity to provide 24/7/365 power. That will be a disaster for our economy. In addition, our power prices will be sky high as we will need two sets of capacity to cover the times when renewables are close to zero output. "Complete and utter bs.

As is being demonstrated now, renewables are being integrated into the grid. We are learning what we need to do to make this work. Organizations like AEMO are calling for more renewables and more firming in order to make the transition smoother. We now have a good understanding of how to make renewables plus existing fossil work together rather than oppose each other.

As this done, older fossil will be retired. We won't have two complete systems as the fossil trolls pretend . That is simply incorrect. We will progressively retire old fossil that is due to be be retired anyway.

Disaster for the economy ? Don't think so. Green hydrogen exports will be a boon for Australia. Jobs, export income, energy security etc. What's not to like about that ?

It is a pity we don't have a federal government with a policy that works with the states. That would only make the transition smoother.

As to you claim about " higher prices ", I'm still waiting for you to post the numbers. Where are the numbers to support your claim ?

So what is it that is replacing the fossil fuel generation?

Wind and solar plus a few batteries?

The facts of yesterday show that those intermitants can go down to close to zero output. At those points what is it that will supply the 25,000 to 35,000MW needed for Australia to run?

You keep ignoring the glaring issue. You don't understand "like for like" comparison. You claim that wind is better than coal but can't nominate one single period when coal power output ran at 6% of capacity. Wow just 6%! Now that is a great source of power when you look at like for like ability to serve the country.

The unreliability of the so called renewables is a glaring issue that hasn't been solved and will cost big bucks. the consumer will pay for this folly and the economy will suffer.
