I have considerable evidence that this statement is untrue. Even though on the global scale, our national Scope 1 emissions are 1.3%, by reducing our emissions to zero that will reduce global emissions by 1.3%. More to the point is Scope 3 emissions which are related to our sales of thermal coal and LNG... but even more important are emissions of methane through fugitive emissions from CSG, as only one source, and meat production.
We aren't isolated because we are a part of the global closed eco-system. An island such as the UK, NZ, Iceland etc is just another, integral part of the planet.
By your logic it makes no sense to comply with water restrictions because your water use is minuscule compared with the rest of the metropolitan network. Go and use your hose as much as you want ;-)
