    The desperation is on the part of the sceptics to ignore ever more compelling evidence. The idea of scientific scepticism is to form an opinion based on evidence. The fact that you give credence to ideas for which there is neither a theoretical mechanism nor observational evidence suggests that your own scepticism is far from scientific. My own sceptisism of the idea that volcanoes are melting the arctic sea ice is based upon several observations:

    -the failure to observe any thermal plumes from volcanic activity reaching the arctic sea ice

    -the fact that the volcanoes lie under 4 kilometres of water

    -the fact that the heat from several hundred cubic kilometres of magma would be required to cause the observed increase in ice melt. The release of such an amount of volcanic energy is rare

    Sadly, AGW scepticism has degenerated into a morass of unfounded and improbable ideas, and a refusal to believe basic data like ice extent measurements.
