You make a valid point nursery... I've often found valid points in those who disagree with me... I learn and learning is what a debate is about... not just winning.
Latham climbed the greasy pole with the party he could most easily convince others to follow him. This says a lot about the Labs.
Yet when Latham lost his way mid-election many Lab voters saw that he actually didn't know what he was talking about and was merely a rhetorician and abandoned Labor... with good reason.
Since he lost favour Latham has adopted an alternative path, as any opportunist will, and found a new niche on Sky after dark. He fits in very well there as watchers and readers of this sensationalist drivel are gullible to any who are cynical on science/global warming and tickle their anti Labor bias.
You wrote "the ex-spurts seem to have the floor in the climate debate" yet on HC, it seems to me, the vast majority are anti-science and global warming "alarmists" who sound the alarm against the loss of their investments in coal and other high emission companies. The political element aside, there are a small minority who are arguing for the science.
Isn't it a good thing to have a debate which includes all facets of the issue?
