I think you comments aptly apply to the whole Australian wannabee geothermal sector - but then not that long ago wind was laughed at.
Even being in NZ, I hear/read more about the Australian geothermal industry than the NZ industry.
Yet Australia produces a couple of hundred kWe, and NZ MANY hundred MWe. It's mainstream here, more reliable than hydro, cheaper and more certain than gas (long term supply uncertain) and provides the base load wind can't.
