Let me answer you like this….ECT is the only side in the comp whose attack relies solely on spin, even when the track is dead. Whilst they have some excellent spinners in Glenn “Warnie” Fizzle and Ashley “Mushtaq” Move-over, in the current game being on a dead pitch, they remain scoreless. Also, their earlier performances have not been good, having lost a home game against a weakened ALDP and then suffered the embarrassing series loss in India.
The current squad has never won a game or even taken a wicket. It was thought that the inclusion of Jim Slowburn (previously played with local team Charity) might have had a positive effect on the team’s form, but he retired hurt without scoring on the last day of play in India.
Whilst commentators are questioning the continued selection of Warnie and Mushtaq, given their poor form, the selectors still seem to favour them and the cheer squad continues their bleats of support.
In the current game being played at the Marsh, ECT remains scoreless and has only a few days of play remaining to demonstrate to its supporters that it can actually play the game, or it faces relegation from the league.
