So an article in today's Financial Review states:

"The strong cash generation has analysts predicting Fortescue will beat last year's record $US$3.1billion profit by 22 percent. Bloomberg's consensus estimate suggests an underlying profit of $US3.88 billion"

I have therefor re-calculated the expected half-year dividend as follows:

Net Profit: USD$3.88 Billion

AUD/USD Exchange Rate: $0.69c

AUD Half-year Profit: AUD$5.62 Billion

AUD Tax Paid (@30%): AUD$1.69 Billion

Available for Dividend Distribution: AUD$3.93 Billion

Full year Dividend pay-out @ 60% payout ratio (i.e 60%of $3.93 Billion) = AUD$2.36 Billion … or $0.76c a share
