What a very distasteful program and place Woomera was for both asylum seekers and staff.

It doesn't matter who started it or whose idea it was.

Those responsible must accept the responsibility for the poor treatment of both staff and asylum seekers.

Hard to believe it was just such a short time ago.

The worst part is that the people traffickers weren't put in there.

Of course we don't want to be flooded with illegal immigrants but you can hardly blame the asylum seekers.

They should have been processed in a 1/4 of the time and either deported or given refugee status.

The blame for that lays with the government of the day.

What never ceases to amaze me though is how callous and uncaring some of the posters are.
