My broker had a buy order on for some time at 4.9 and was at the top of the queue. Yesterday he bought one share for 4.9 during the closing auction. I mention this because it's disgraceful the way closing auction can be manipulated like that. It happens so often. What other auction allows you to put on a bid and at the last millisecond before the hammer falls ... remove it?! The ASX needs to amend the rules of the closing auction period so that once you put a bid or offer on ... you can't bloody well remove it! That would stop these shenanigans that favour those with access to high frequency trading. How are mum and dad investors supposed to compete?
Thankfully today, a buyer placed an order on for half a million shares @ 5c towards the end of the auction period ... thus we avoided closing at 4.9.
