Tax on earnings within his super fund would be nil if the shares are held in a pension account. Generally he would need to be close to age 60 to be able to set up the pension account.
Tax on withdrawals from his pension account would be tax free from age 60. If he is sub age 60 then some tax may apply but that depends on numerous factors
