it's a glorified open source VPN, with elements of P2P, and dmvpn, and potentially some obfuscation by using elements / ideas borrowed from ToR. I'll assure you any network engineer with a few years in the field would be able to detect this 'invisible' network from a simple packet capture, and identify the endpoints. this is why you'll never see the actual scope and results from the KPMG pen test.

the new company acquisition is interesting, they're all about LI(lawful intercept) which is the antithesis of what NET are trying to provide hence the perplexity.
Their website hasn't been updated since 2014, the staff on linked in most don't work there anymore and haven't for a while.
