if people or hedge funds think a stock will fall then sell what you have, not what someone else has and forcing margin calls etc
and if you get it wrong buy them back
if shares keep being shorted on a big enough scale and mums and dadscould not play then it is always a win situation
as others are forced to sell
not a level playing field
