Rregarding iron ore drilling, plenty of it happens in hilly terrain. Nothing out of the ordinary there. The iron tends to prevent it being eroded over the years and hence it forms hills. Yes clearing drill pads is always a biartch because the underlying ground is so damn hard.
All that is a good sign. If they were drilling in flat palins near a river you'd have to ask "What the?"
