Updated Shorter chart with latest T+4 data from shortman. Aggregate short sales UP very slightly = 18.47% @ Feb 5th, 75,641,894 units. (Feb 4th, 75,532,169 units. ) Note that the short data lags the sp data by 3 data points in this chart (sp data shown up until Mon 10th).
Amazing that on a day when we rose from $1.045 to $1.230, the shorts barely moved, overall. IIRC there were abut 2.5m gross shorts on that day. Perhaps some closed early and oped again later..? Day trading for pips..?
In any case, there seems to have been no net covering on the 5th - imagine what happens when they do, amongst a flurry of other buying activity....
