You're correct 123enen. In Australia naked shorting is limited by ASX rules to a certain percentage of each company's stock and has to reported to the ASX. Naked shorting is a big problem in the US where it is unlimited and unreported but here its the official way. A bigger problem here is stock borrowing which is unregulated.
We've taken the US solution and applied it to our problem which is the opposite. Our regulators must be a bit thick, but I guess that's not news to many.
