I see a company moving up into a relevant index as a positive. There are many funds whose deed will not let them invest in companies outside the ASX300 for instance. It also comes up on the radar of many funds that previously were not looking at it.

So when a fund enters an index you should see more buying pressure as they get set...an 'index' fund has no choice but to buy it. Also instos tend to be longer term holders as opposed to traders. So, that brings more stability as well as credibility.

I would rather be holding a company that enetrs the index than not.
