I've been a punter for 40 years. Dogs & thoroughbreds. Owned, bread some & even trained a few dogs many moons ago, but the stockmarket is a superior punt if only for the feature that even after you've laid your bet & the race has started you can still cash in your ticket for something eg your usually fast early dog misses the start & your bet is history (& you know it in a millisecond) whereas in a share trade you can see the problem with your position & still recoup a goodly % of your "bet".

HAving said that, it is my experience that successful "track" punters make excellent stock market players, because the skills needed to do well at the track are the same as those needed to do well in the markets ie ability to quickly analyse data and make a decision, the ability to assess risk & give it a value (on the track it's "the odds") & the ability to put each event behind you as soon as it's over & move on to the next event not carrying the baggage of previous ones.

Stick with the market for making serious money & the TAB for fun
