A more pertinent question would be "why are there no major scientific organisations trying to prove that climate change does NOT exist"

Good science is about hypothesis, a credible and educated scientific community must first set out to prove themselves wrong, once they can achieve this it would either prove or disprove the global warming hypothesis, and I must stress the most important factor that global warming is CAUSED by man made CO2. They haven't done that yet? Why because it can't be proven!

Oh, and the answer to the initial question is of course - you dissent, you loose your funding! Too easy.
