Not sure what you mean by "real reduction". Ain't gonna happen with specifics industries. Stable bulk charging characteristics can NOT be compromised and fall outside to scope of works. Both Tesla and Samsung tried it and failed.
Oddly enough a nice Cobalt agreement by Samsung reported over the weekend.
As per rampant price. Yes $90k/t for a raw material would instigate many engineers to try and phase cobalt out of the mix as these prices were manufactured by financial market forces not supply and demand. As the need to add mileage to every charge, now looking at 1000km range with a 10 min charge @300km, (basically fully charge the EV during shopping), class one division one installs (industrial, Marine, Mining etc) some form of cobalt in the mix will be needed for stability requirements untill technology improves other configurations or battery types as this "battery stability" is of huge importance in final BA and complience.
