I have met many many many true blue perfect-English speaking Australians who use 'brought' instead of 'bought' inappropriately all the time. In fact I would go as far as saying that far fewer people who's English is a second language would make that mistake. What I am saying is not an attack on people who speak and write English as a second language. My point is how can so many Australians make such a basic mistake.

PS I speak a little French, German, Czech and my grammar is atrocious

As to the missing apostrophe Tigereyes, that's just laziness. Surely you are not comparing the misuse of 'brought' and 'bought' to a missing apostrophe, a comparison of the written language to that of the spoken?
