I'd wager that half the volume was the same person buying and selling to themselves which has the effect of making volume seem alot bigger than actual new ownership of shares.
Apparently on the day it hit 11.5 cents last week or so one person bought and sold the majority of those shares.(*disclaimer - according to PW)
