LIC's attract a different investor profile than individual listed companies. The answer to why the discount lingers might be that the less researched investors are currently nervous about the market and have a lesser understanding of the vagaries which drive the market. I also agree with Geoff - some LICs will sell up if discounts are high and persistent. If you can pick which of these are on the cusp you can make a relatively safe and quick return. I have only managed to do so once in 25 years of investing and it was more by chance than managing to pick it.
