Sure, no doubt. But those numbers are hard to get for KiCAD and others, you have to keep your ear to the industry ground.
Just be a tad skeptical of claims like doubling the number of seats in the next 5 years, when it took 30 years to get the seats they have now. Markets can tank, purse strings can tighten, competitors can rise up slowly and eat away at those seats etc.
