    Good question Tinnitus.

Why do they dilute the SUN to where the mathmatial equivilant is you are using a FLAT EARTH maths to put into global climate models!

Diluting the SUN by 4 cannot drive the tropospheric weather system, where it establishes temperature differentials to drive convective systems and evaporates large quantities of water to provide for interesting instabilities within these convective systems.

However when you start looking at the SUNs power input on that hemisphere (divide by 2) you can see that all of a sudden we are beginning to get number's that can drive the tropospheric weather system, where it establishes temperature differentials to drive convective systems and evaporates large quantities of water to provide for interesting instabilities within these convective systems.

Obviously the SUNS input is even stronger again at the Tropics where majority of the solar input is stored in the oceans to eventually find its way to the polar regions.
