Invading Iraq was a stupid move and the justification was transparently false from the start. It weakened the US militarily and economically, proved that even a small country cannot be subjugated, ignored Al Qaeda as if it wasn't even a problem (maybe it wasn't?) and stirred up a holy war by irrational fanatics all over the world.
Above all, it proved to friend and foe alike that the US is the bad guy. Where is the real good guy gonna come from now?
