The main point I am making is this...

The US health care system is not balanced and is not something we should unconsciously allow our healthcare system do deteriorate to.

By way of an example let me illustrate what I mean.

A friend of mine is an American. He is a motorcycle mechanic. He broke his leg last year. He could not afford private health insurance for various reasons. He could not afford to get his leg fixed. There was no public health system such as Medicare and public hospitals to look after him. He was left with no other option but to rest and let his broken leg heal itself. That was his brutal reality. That is the reality of the most vulnerable people of America.

So lets not follow down Americas path where the private health system is king and the public health system is woeful.

Lets challenge ourselves to create the best universal healthcare system in the world. The most balanced one. Where the vulnerable are given priority and those of us that can do more, do do more.

But whether or not private health care exists is not germane to that outworking.

The quality of public healthcare is mutually exclusive with the existence, state or quality of private healthcare.

In fact, a vibrant and viable private sector has the effect of taking pressure off the public system, does it not?

So, again, the point you are making is lost on me as I don't see being at all relevant to the concept or merit of private health insurance.
