“ far too early to assess how model will work in reality as apposed to theory ”

it’s not theory these models already work if anything it’s been long over due and agile has been around for a couple decades longer in software dev.... seems even these really slow moving industries are finally coming on board very late but good.

Think back - old process’ take 15-20 years to bring one drug to light - 20 years ago no Facebook, no SpaveX, no Tesla, Amazon a future market place under construction no one had heard of it in the public arena, Apple struggling to survive made computers, EBay launched by only a couple years, 3G mobile had not arrived, a handful of people knew of Google - all these companies used agile project management process’ to build really complicated landscapes of millions of variables in software and products. Now 20 years or close too the biggest names in business... old car companies completely blindsided and struggling standing next to Tesla who’s share price doubled in a month after two profitable quarters - they said a successful new car company has not been launched in over 100 years... Tesla’s manufacturing plant in China coming online ahead of schedule - model Y pulled forward into production... has 4 Gigafactories and coming in China - the one in nevada is the largest factory on earth for a company that did not exist 18 years ago.

SpaceX started 18 years ago - it takes the same pay load as a single NASA billion dollar launch into space for commercial operators for 50 million USD - reusable rockets and frequency is the key and they are always hiring developers and agile practitioners.

its criminal science/medicine was not using this approach to trials 15 years ago.

agile is collaborative within the agile team or across agile teams in the same cadence, it’s transparent, all team members own the project together so they have ownership and take responsibility, it’s iterative and flexible - you set the next sprint only at the end of the last it’s not forward planed - each sprint starts with a planning ceremony it ends with a review of just that sprint etc etc...

I’ve been an Agile Scrum Master for years in software and watched the landscape evolve and companies outside of software adopt these practices to great benefit - launch car companies, rocket companies, manage large events, hard manufacturing, any creative process, run hospitals, even local councils have been doing works using agile for years, etc etc.

everything is a process and a project and includes people

I’m out case its all about having clinicians being empowered and able to move and act quickly working with each other, collaborating at the same cadence without outside forces directing and influencing the team making the decisions they need to make at the point of discovery - it’s way quicker.

you need to defend against external influence particularly holding on to one agenda or ideology... making it slow tedious locking down direction, blanketing discovery and disengaging those who should be the decision maker.

Agile cuts all that away - hence clinicians run the trial!

I think they will save around 33-25% of the old trial costs and bring it in about 30% faster and along the way they will spend resources better... We may even pivot mid-trial is there’s a clear benefit to do so.

it’s going to be a process still but considerably quicker than it was.
