I just don't get why people can't understand what that means to an economy. Instead, they shrug their shoulders impotently and say that it doesn't matter cause it will get here anyway. Half a million extra deaths would be gut-wrenchingly shocking to watch occur, would shake the country to its core and devastate the economy for many years.

But no, apparently temporarily restricting foreign travel is an too unbearable a cost to bear. The sleepwalking continues.

Agree! We as an island continent are in a better position than most to isolate and contain ourselves from this viral problem. If we shut down all international air travel that would do it and we could be well insulated the Coronavirus. It's a no brainer, it's so much common sense!
