I have experience of sending them info and requesting their input. They may refer you to ASIC but they do take note. In one instance we noted that they put a query letter to the company on the fact that the directors shareholding change was very late. So even if you think you are being told to go away they probably don't want to have missed something. If you are a serial complaint maker - I presume they ignore you, but if you are not and you get a few people to query they do take notice.
