Can you imagine that? Anything is possible in an irrational market, but there it is.
The figure is based on current consensus of 7 analysts who put 2009 earnings at 5.46 per share.
That is up considerably from consensus 60 days ago of 4.48.
I can't explain their wild fluctuation, as BHP is very open in detailing earings throughout its many divisions so little ir any guesswork is required to make projections.
2010 is somewhat off, but projection is PE of 6.
