"We are too busy buying houses to invest in businesses including miners.
There are some good little up and coming miners which may start Australian owned but we don't back them. i.e we buy houses and not their shares."

Very true, so many Aussies just buy houses to rent. No point complaining about others ( Chinese) buying our resource companies if you don't want to buy shares in mining companies.
Australians can buy shares in mining companies any day they want on the ASX, its easy just put your money where your mouth is.
Sell your investment property and invest in Australian mining shares. The fact is many are a better investment anyway.
Take, Grange GRR and iron ore miner in Tasmania pays a 10% dividend including Franking credits. FMG currently paying closer to 15%.
I've sold some of my investment properties and put the money into Australian mining companies. This way you're supporting Australian business.
If Aussies don't invest in explorers or producers, then its no point complaining if someone else does.
