fascinating stuff, another interesting thing that happened back then was that after Black Tuesday 29/10/29, they decided on the Wednesday to close the NYSE from 12.00 Thursday all Friday and Saturday (Saturday used to be a 'work day). I believe this happened a few more times afterwards as well as possibly bank holidays...
If you haven't read "The Great Crash of 1929" - J.K.Galbraith then you'll be astounded at the similarities, good news is that we are only up to page 80 something in the "Twilight of Illusion" chapter straight after the "In Goldman Sachs We Trust" chapter.
