I agree that the media hypes it up and that there's unreasonable amounts of fear in some of the population. However, you cant just look at the number of people infected at this point in time. Similar to investing, we should be looking at the future possibilities.

The numbers infected are the minimum number of cases. I have family and friends in China, when the virus broke out, people were turned away from hospitals. There would definitely be cases infection and deaths which are not properly accounted for. E.g. an elderly person who died at home and wasnt tested.

Countries are going to underreport cases for a variety of reasons, indonesia because religion, japan because they have much to lose if the Olympics get cancelled, Iran because its underprepared.

Its not the end of the world, but the virus is going to get a lot worse before it gets better. And the economy will be slower to pickup imo.
