I am opposed to the death penalty and do not believe it should be used in Australia and a recent poll indicated the majority of Australians feel the same.
At the same time though I see it as the right of other countries to impose penalties as they see fit, provided those penalties are imposed after a fair and open trial process. If the penalties include the death penalty for serious crimes, then so be it, that is their decision and not one we should interfer with based on our moral beliefs
