how safe are banks

    Hi,

    So how safe are our banks? We keep getting told their ok but then there are so many rummors.

    Two I've got money in are Bank West and Macquarie.

    Anyone got a view with decent reasoning why they'd be safe or not?

    And which one's safer if not the above?
