I thought so to but just look at what's happened in the US. Ok shouldn't happen here we hope. However it's not a bad topic to get thoughts on. Now if it's true that one of the Irish banks will take deposits in Aus and are regulated by Irish backing. Remember Bank West isn't Aus owned but goes by Aus rules so no banking guarantee. However I'll check out the Bank of Ireland.
No I don't think it could happen but have a very large margin loan in cash that I couldn't handle if lost. Took it out of the market in June, wish it had been May. It's prepaid so just have to keep it in a safe high interest deposit account until June and breath a sigh of relieve when I give it back.
